FREE MONEY ! must read.
If you have had a mortgage within the UK in the past 4-5 years then do not pass this up.
A friend of mine put me onto it yesterday and after 2 quick phone calls to my last 2 lenders I am now waiting for 2 cheques to come through the door.
Its all to do with Mortgage exit fees. It became the standard for our UK banks/lenders to overcharge customers for paying off your mortgage or changing lenders. All the info is on this website including phone numbers for your past lender.
www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/mortgage-fees
Even if you don’t have a clue about what you were charged, reclaiming should be pretty easy. Just call your old lender and say “I’d like to reclaim my old mortgage exit fee please”. When it asked for details say you don’t have them, and ask it to let you know what you were charged and what your contract says. Most will do this without a problem. If it asks you why you want to reclaim, just say “because the regulator, the FSA says I was overcharged”.
This is very simple and will net you at least £75 per lender. Not bad for a 1 minute phone call.
Please let me know when you've done it and how you got on.
When you get told your owed a refund, dont forget my cut. Ok, a reputation point will do.
Lets see how much we can collectively claw back.
£150 and counting.
ps. Dont forget to ask for your interest aswell. They wont offer it.
Good luck.

Hi steve smith!aliu_mustapha2000@yahoo.com has sent the following message to you:aliu_mustapha2000@yahoo.com In a brief introduction, It's my pleasure to contact you for a business venture which I intend to establish in your country, though I have not met with you before but I believe one has to risk, confiding in someone to succeed sometimes in life. I am Aliu Saliu Mustapha the only surviving Son of late Dr. El-Mustapha. I am in the position of some documents coverning the deposit of USD$8,000 000.00 United State Dollars which I inherit from my late father, in a Security company here in Cote 'd lvoire before he was assassinated by unknown persons. Now I decided to invest this money in your country or anywhere safe enough outside Africa for security purposes. I want you to help me to transfer this fund into your country for investment purposes. If you can be of assistance to me I will be pleased to offer you 20% of the total fund. I wait for your response at my private mail ads / aliu_mustapha2000@yahoo.com / Best wishes
Can everyone bombard this tosser please and lets see what happens!!!!!!

Re: FREE MONEY ! must read.
Good advice Germaine. I did this with my bank charges last year and got over £800 back including interest. Banks are rip-off merchants and make money out of people who have very little anyway.

Re: FREE MONEY ! must read.
Had my mortgage with Natwest for 25 years and redeemed last year.
Paid £85 admin fee so rang them.
Apparently some newer mortgages were charged £200 or over but my admin fee was in the original T&C and was a minimum figure to cover Land Registry fees on reassignment of the deeds etc so no joy!!!!!
Worth a try but it seems that an admin fee such as I paid is allowed without infringing FSA rules.
Thanks for that anyway mate.

Yes, lots of these about Steve but UK bank charges are real, and the claim you can make against your old lender is real. As i said in my first post, i have spoken to 2 of my old lenders and both have said they owe me a rebate.

For some ideas on how people have had previous fun with these, try this link http://www.419eater.com/ . my personal favourite was the one where he got a guy to read books to him, after pretending to the scammer to be a video recording rep. There are hours of it ! Sheer class and great to turn the tables.
Have fun mate

Re: FREE MONEY ! must read.
The Halifax are very good, you just ring up with your details and they can tell you instantly. I telephoned last year but we had been charged the reduced amount as the mortgage was redeemed just after the court case.
It was dead easy to do, only a minute or two.
