Earthquake Insurance
Hi, can anyone recomend a good place to get earthquake insurance in Altinkum please? Many thanks David.

Do you mean the mandatory earthquake insurance that covers the cost of rebuilding the structure if an earthquake knocks it down (DASK) or the earthquake insurance offered in addition to this by some insurance companies, that covers the cost of restoring the property completely?
I can recommend an english-speaking Altinkum-based agent that can do both, PM me for details.

Try Intasure we arranged it through their English office - cost 47 GBP

Not that it should worry me I have a Villa but on our Sitesi there are 12 apartments.
My question is this if you own an apartment & an earthgquake should happen resulting in some damage who picks up the bill for repairing.
Lets assume that one or two of the apartment holders does not have insurance.
Tricky?
The rusult if taken to its extreme could leave the Sitesi with having to demolish the structure clear the site & then rebuild or not with the cost of the Sitesi fees having to be increased to cover the deminished occupancy.
Now that should get some minds working.

A note re UK-based companies insuring in Turkey - their "local" offices are not always local so if you WERE unfortunate enough to make a claim, you might be dealing with an agent who doesn't have an office within several hundred miles of your home!
This isn't a criticism of Intasure by the way, just an observation. An additional observation: if your home is damaged by an earthquake, you presumably won't be the only customers affected in your area so they will probably get someone down on site to you! On the other hand if your house is burgled, you might find it more convenient to deal with someone who can get round and help you within an hour not a day. |
