Re: Old Lira

I think the 'period of grace' may have long elapsed - especially now they're changing the currency (yet again!) to remove the 'Yeni' aspect.

Re: Old Lira

There is a new TC Ziirat bank in Bodrum. As you go down the main road from he bus station to the Marina, just before you get to the mosque on the corner, that is where the new bank is.

Re: Old Lira

when they changed from TL to YTL in 2005 they planned a transition period for people to get used to the new money and also to exchange the old lira for the new..
.i believe that theres a 10 year period for old notes to be exchangeed in the T:C:Ziraat banks and also Ziraat agricultural banks in cities without a central bank
in 2009 the change over from TL to YTL will be completed..and then it will revert back to simply TL.
So if any of you have some old 1,000000 lira old notes lying around nows the time to lose your millionaire status and get a lira coin for them...still worth about 40p.

Re: Old Lira

Thanks for that we have about 30,000000 TL at home it makes me feel quite rich talking in telephone numbers. But perhaps I should change them up on my next visit & get a couple of beers.
