Earthquake insurance

The purchase of my property should be complete shortly so I wanted to get insurance.

Having heard that there is a chance of earthquakes I wanted to make sure that was covered too. But I was told that as my property is part of a co-operative I cant get earthquake insurance (apparently you need the Tapu to do that)

Is that true? - have any others had similar experiences or can give any other advice?

thanks

Re: Earthquake insurance

I have not got my tapu yet and from what I understand until it comes through the property is covered by the builder. If you go to the search at the top of the home page and type in earthquake insurance there are a few threads on this good luck with your search.

Re: Earthquake insurance

I am sure that as a co-operative there is an earthquake insuance already inplace, until this is dissolved and all properties are sold or completed you would be covered. then you should receive your Tapu. you are still able to insure the contents.

Have a search through this section, as I am sure there is something similar in one of the threads.

Thurstan I think lorraine may be right here check with your agent and the director of the cooperative to see if you are already covered by the cooperative.

Re: Earthquake insurance

Hi all, Does anyone know about the compulsary earthquake insurance. I have my Tapu and was told [by an agent] that they won't issue the Tapu without it. I have my doubts, there are several bits of paper [in Turkish] which of course I cannot understand. Anyone know what it looks like and where you get it?
Kind regards Phil
