Re: SMS problems and Internet banking issues

Having the same problem here!!!! We are in England and cannot receive the access pin sent by Garanti either, although Fatma says the texts are being sent and that the problem is in the UK. GIFFGAFF say there is no problem receiving texts from Turkey and the problem may be in Turkey!!!!!! Seems one side is blaming the other and we are getting nowhere. Has anyone got any ideas on where we go from here?

Re: SMS problems and Internet banking issues

I'm with GiffGaff which uses the O2 network and have an agent dealing with this problem.

He's being very helpful and although at first said it was an issue with the networks in Turkey, is now looking into it in more detail after I asked how we can break the stalemate if both networks are saying the other is at fault.

He is in touch with their technical team and they've asked for dates and times when sms have been sent and failed to come through, which I've done.

It may not come to anything, and they may still say the fault lies outside their network, though at least it seems to be being looked at in detail.

If everyone else can do the same it's bound to help.

Re: SMS problems and Internet banking issues

I have raised the issue with O2. After twenty minutes of telling me to remove and reinsert my sim, get a new sim................. ok, I'll pass this up to our technical department for them to investigate!

I've given them details of the sending number, times etc. I also gave links to this and the giffgaff thread on the subject.

Not holding my breath though!

Re: SMS problems and Internet banking issues

Hi,
this morning I set up my Turkcell phone which I had brought home with me this year roaming on the o2 network.
Going into my Granti account i changed the phone number from my UK mobile number to the Turkcell number to receive my internet banking pin on ..
Result ,, the pin came through as normal and thankfully i could finish my transaction ....
I then changed my phone settings back to my UK o2 and requested another pin which resulted in nothing being received as before ..
Could we have a situation where texts are being intercepted coming from Turkey ??? Mmmmmm big brother stuff !!!

Re: SMS problems and Internet banking issues

I am also having this frustrating problem. At first I assumed it was Garanti that was the source. However, on speaking to them I was told that they had investigated and discovered that O2 were "filtering" SMS messages from Turkcel who are Garanti's mobile provider. Not sure what that means but I have a friend who also banks with Garanti online using the EE (Orange) network to receive the SMS PIN and he is not having a problem. So, I spoke to O2 and was put through to various people and finally one of their tech "gurus". He said that O2 were not aware of any problem and if there was a problem then there was nothing O2 could do about it. Very helpful! Fortunately, my O2 contract is about to expire so my answer will be to change network if the issue (which is now costing me money) is not resolved soon.
