Re: Erdogans election

I caught the tale end of this BBC Hard Talk interview with Arty this morning. I've no idea if it will open in Turkey but thought some might be interested in viewing it.

Re: Erdogans election

His speech today is making news in UK; last hour of LBC given to phone-in on the subject. A lot of support for RTE, although one person saw danger for Europe in the content, and thought that RTE was on the verge of declaring himself Caliph.

Speak to a Mod then...........

The position Turkey is currently in, its that far down the round to hell & damnation from all sides, that if the likes of Erdogan is removed ie a strong arm, there could be more major problems in that country. Libya comes to mind.

Do you have a woman in mind who could hold Turkey together?

Re: Erdogans election

It seems a bit unbalanced that people are being jailed for feto offences while at the same time the Sarajevo speech urges expat Turks to enter politics in Europe and influence the direction of the governments.
There's a lack of knowledge here about dual nationality issues; for example Austrians cannot hold a dual nationality so expat Turks would have to renounce their Turkish nationality. Surely that would be unpatriotic?

Re: Erdogans election

Turkish friends that live here in London have been complaining because they had been streaming an anti-Erdogan opposition rally by the CHP candidate Muharrem İnce coming from Izmir encouraged by it being over 2.5milion strong but suddenly the internet was cut ... they thought on the UK side but after a call home to Turkey they found the people there furious as it was cut statewide in Turkey. The opposition get so little airtime by the Erdogan controlled media, in comparison to the present President being on TV daily so they rely on internet twitter etc for some other view ... but I am sure if they do this, when they have the biggest percentage of the media airtime and still need to do this the election will be a "fix "

Re: Erdogans election

Its gobsmacking the numbers that turn up to some of these political rallies in various countries. A 5 million turn out for one in the UK, would have the speaker in one county & those at the back of the audience in another.
