Yes.God knows why they did this because its caused a lot of people to be evicted there by causing more Agg to the landlords.
Now most landlords won't accept DSS ,certainly not without a high advance payment on full rent. Watch Don't pay we will take it away

Re: Buy to Let property in the UK

Paying Housing Benefit direct to the tenant was supposed to empower them and make them more responsible. Don't actually know what that means! Empower them to what?

Most tenants that I know of didn't want the change

Re: Buy to Let property in the UK

It means that we will not consider DSS tenants now, not to mention the higher insurance costs.

Flagship Tory policy to move all benefits claimants onto Universal Credit.

Re: Buy to Let property in the UK

I know this will be seen by some as sexist , but in some cases lady has tenancy , boyfriend moves in and pi$$es money up the wall , woman gets jailed for tv licence non payment and evicted for non payment of rent etc , az the boyfriend bangs her about if she spends the money on living costs .

That is almost word for word what happened to one of my tenants - okay until her new sad loser boyfriend turned up - they are both sad losers and homeless now

This was a bright idea that John Prescott introduced. It would empower the Tenants he said. In practice it empowered them to buy drugs with the rent money. Where previously the rent money landed on the Landlord's mat, he now has to go looking for it. Speaking for myself, no thank you Mr. Prescott, you can find them a house.
