Re: Garanti Bank -Transfer Limits and costs

I have already declared my Turkish Bank interest to HMRC and keep receipts, so that is nicely covered but my plan, for what its worth, is to reach an amount of capital by about September which has been accumulating since we sold up almost two years ago, then to leave the capital where it is and just take off the interest as and when we decide to treat ourselves to something. In the event that it is a holiday in Turkey, the interest generated can remain in Lira. In the event that it is elsewhere, we can exchange it to sterling and transfer it back to our UK bank to be spent accordingly.
If we aren't in holiday or other spending mode, then it can stay earning interest.
I'm sure others do the same?
The 10,000 TL per day limit will suffice nicely.

You only get look at if there is no paper chain. Been sending cash back and forth for years, HMRC is no problem.

Re: Garanti Bank -Transfer Limits and costs

HMRC has brought in 'unexplained wealth orders' or UWOs to track down people hiding or laundering money. They are only just coming into use, and have already caught out several non-British residents, as well as some high rollers in casinos. One lady from the @stans' area of the world has had a house confiscated, and been asked to explain how she an afford to spend about 14 million in Harrods in just a year.
You can expect to see a lot more publicity about UWOs as they work through the Panama and Paradise papers.

Hi popped in yesterday, he said there's no minimum but there's a maximum of 30,000 TL per day. See you when you come over 😁😁
