Dask & home insurance renewal with HSBC

My dask & home insurance is due for renewal next week. I have received 2 text messages which state that HSBC will contact me to renew. Does anyone know if they are actually getting around to contacting people in the UK during Covid or should I try to get in contact with my branch?

I have flights booked for 30th September, so can hopefully sort it out when I am there, if needs be, but that may mean a gap between policy dates & as we haven't been to our villa since July 2019, we would hate to get there & find out that something was wrong & that we couldn't make a claim

Can you contact a personal representative through secure online banking?

Re: Dask & home insurance renewal with HSBC

If something has happened while you were away and the policy was valid at the time you should be covered for a retrospective claim. Can't comment on HSBC's policy of contact. We use Intasure for both DASK and house cover because it's a specialist holiday home policy and allows for voids of 6 months.
Intasure act as a UK agent for a Turkish insurance company, I think it's Olympos.

We originally used Intasure, but they got awfully expensive & failed to inform us that we didn't have Dask cover, so I moved from them.
Also, when we lost a solar panel in a mini tornado, we found that it was cheaper to sort it out ourselves than pay the Intasure policy excess

Can you send a fax to the bank in Turkish asking to renew both policies on the finishing day, try it in Google translate. If you have a problem PM me and I will try to help.

Re: Dask & home insurance renewal with HSBC

We would do ours by email, they would send back a copy of both policies, with a copy in English for us to agree, when we agreed they would send us the activated policy detail. I always found that service very good when we were buying a product off them. They will always find someone who speaks English.
Our branch was HSBC Bodrum, our account manager was Ozge Sali I think.

Just be careful that the policy is for a holiday home (if that's relevant) because ordinary house insurance will not usually cover a void of more than 3 months max. Make sure it's noted on any 'special conditions'. They're great at taking your money but not so good at paying out.
Intasure has always done a separate DASK because it's a stand alone contract underwritten through the state and cannot be included with an independent house insurance.

Re: Dask & home insurance renewal with HSBC

As far as I know all DASK policies in Turkey have to be separate policies too. We were without for several years as we mistakenly thought it was included in the house and contents policy. Our current policy certainly has a 90 day empty clause.
