well i havent been on here for some tıme but was hopın to get jus some ınfo. i was recently propsed to by a male who i know for quite some time, although i know that homosexuality is not the most favoured thing here in turkey i was just wondering now it is legal practise in the uk is it possible to have a same sex marrige in the british consulate? i would be most grateful for any feedback regarding this querie thank you

I am absolutely no expert on this but i wouldnt think it possible as same sex marriages are not legal in britain i dont think, what we do have in Uk is an agreement that same sex marriages conducted in foreign countries which recognise them, will in Britain, have most of the same legal rights as those under the Civil Parnership Act 2004.
as i say dont take my word for it though and might be worth further investigation!

oh i thought they were legal now as elton john and david furnish are now recognised as married in the uk they were the 1st celebrities to tie the knot last year i know this is a real funny topic to work round but thanks for ure input if u hear anythin i woulod be grateful cheers

I think they are legal now, Civil Parnerships, that is as long as you are not already married and I think you have mostly the same rights as a hetrosexual civil partnership.

I'm sure civil partnerships are legal in UK now although I don't think it's correct though to call it a marriage. It does give the partners some of the rights of a marriage though. I did meet a couple in Turkey who had just taken part in this kind of partnership in UK. They seem accepted in the community. Homosexuality is not illegal in Turkey. Your best bet is to e mail or phone the British Embassy.

i probably didnt put it clearly but i agree civil partnerships are accepted with same sex and have same rights but legal same sex marriages arent?. totally agree tho that if more info needed contact consulate as things change and rules can be difficult to follow i would guess.
