Re: new kitchen

We have just had a new kitchen, originally we ordere done from Banyo in Bodrum, they came and measured several times, it arrived fairly quickly but was all wrong, the measurements had been changed. We had a friend who project managed everything. He sent it back and arranged for a carpenter to make the kitchen correctly for the same price. We had already sourced the worktops ,tiles, handles etc. We chose new cupboard fronts,we absolutely love it. Maybe you can find someone who makes kitchens in the didim area and you'll get exactly what you want.

Go to Ikea, they do installation with sub contractors and you have half a chance of a good job, got all my kitchen from there and installed it myself, have not seen a decent kitchen from local companies that look good after a few months since we have lived here.

Re: new kitchen

Going out of Didim heading towards Akbuk (Akbuk Road), there is a petrol garage on the right. Behind that garage are loads of little units. They do cabinets, BBQs, car mechanics, tyres, just about everything................you cut the shop out & they will fit it all for you.
Go and have a roam around there, its an eye opener.

A tip, take the measurements to them, pick what you want & get a rough price before you take them to your property.

Re: new kitchen

MrFamiliar, I am also looking for a new kitchen and I will be over in a weeks time. If/when I find what I am after I will be in touch and let you know, the ikea tip is a good one from basic so if it comes to it I will do that and fit it myself (at least you know what you are getting) but it means limiting my relaxation time but I will have earned my efes . If any members have any other tips then please let me know.

Re: new kitchen

We had a kitchen(s) fitted & myself being a plumber I was impressed how good the actual Turkish fitters are. As for time scale, it depends on the wood quality & if they have to order it in. Cant comment about Ikea but take heed, Ikea is in Izmir. If you get a door/draw problem 6 months down the line will you get them back? For me its buy local, plus its the start of a "business friendship", once your away from actual Emlaks & builders you will see how much locals value your/our trade.

The only thing that does not impress me are the Turks tiling, much to be desired some of them.

Re: new kitchen

We were just over and had plaster knocked off an internal wall, replastered, the whole upstairs painted, plaster knocked off the terrace, replastered and painted with sylicone paint, and a new shower tray fitted = all in four days! On the whole the Turkish workmen work very fast!

Glad you had a good job done.
