I would guess that there three possible reasons for this . Possibly owners have got their act together, become less naive and realised that there are much better and much cheaper options available to them for site management. Or perhaps the AGM meeting didnt go Asem's way and they have played this card in the expectation that owners on your site will come begging them to come back. That has happened before on another site.
If I was you I would not be worried as in my opinion there are far better and far cheaper options available for you and your fellow owners. Developers only stay on a site for one reason - to make more money. In fact, the whole idea in Turkish law is for the owners to take over the running of the site after the developer has done what they are supposed to do ie finish the site, get the Habitation Certificate and transfer Tapus to owners. Any really good developer will do this AND will help owners to start standing on their own feet and form their own legal Management Committee.
People make the mistake of thinking only Asem or their likes can manage your complex - believe me there are many other options available. The key is to have enough sensible people on your site who are able to form a knowledgeable committee. I can assure you that if you have such people on your site then you have no need to worry - in fact I would say you have cause for celebration as you will now have far more control over affairs on your site and you will definitely be quids in in the long run - I know what site fees are charged on some other Asem sites and in my opinion the site fees are unbelievably high for what owners get.
Believe me your site can grow from here as long as you have 3 or 4 committed key people who know their way about the Turkish system and who have the site interests at heart. For your info there is a very interesting thread on the Turkishlifeforum which gives great detail re a site in your area going about forming their own Owner Management Committee.
Cheer up - it is not the end of the world. In fact many owners on many sites would love to be in the position you now find yourself in.
