Question Traveling Alone

Hi Everyone

Just looking for your advice. I go to Turgutreis on Holiday every year but always travel with my friends.

This year the friends I travel with are going to Australia and can't afford to go to Turkey as well.

First would you recommend traveling to Turkey/Bodrum area on your own.

Second where would you recommend to stay (it does not have to be Turgutreis) and also if anyone has traveled alot on their own can you give me any advice on traveling by yourself. I'am most worried about the evenings especially meal times and I don't want to stay in every night.

Thanks you for your help in advance.

Chocolat

Re: Traveling Alone

Hi Chocolat
I am sure you would be fine if you went on holiday alone. The important thing is to think about what you like to do in an evening and then pick a resort that will fit the bill. Once you know which resort you want to say in find accomatation that is close to the centre.
Many people travel to Turkey alone and i'm sure you will meet up with people and have a great time.

Re: Traveling Alone

Hi,

Good on you for still going on hols!! U wont be alone as lots of people go on there own and end up having a ball! Turgutreis is a fab place to go solo as its one of those places where u will feel welcome all the time and its not to big just right. Mandalinci is a good hotel if your just only as its very central so at night u can go and have something to eat and have a drink at one of the bars on the strip as u know its always warm and inviting.
If you do end up getting bored then (im not trying to sell to you now ) then you can always go on a few organised trips to shows and do a bit of sight seeing which will keep you busy and its always a good opportunity to meet people.

Re: Traveling Alone

Hi,
Im sure you will be fine travelling and spending time i Turgutreis , it sounds as though you have been a few times and will know the area .
We have been visiting there for many years, personally if it was myself travelling on my own and needed accommodation i would stay at the Mandalinci, its near a few restuarants as you know and right accross from the bar,s, so popping back to the hotel at any time of the day or night would be easy , a lot of people travelling on their own usually end up at Padd,ys bar and the great thing is they will escort you back to the hotel if you are a bit concerned walking around at night on your own if your accomodation is nearby, i know when i have visited there on my own they have been great on ensuring that i am ok.no wonder its my favourite bar. Hope you have a great time

Re: Traveling Alone

My friend stayed in our apartment in Yalikavak last June, and was very nervous about going. She had the best holiday ever, met loads of lovely people, some of whom she is still in contact with, and can't wait to return this year. It was her first time in Turkey.

Re: Traveling Alone

Wow, thanks everyone for the great advice. Feel alot better about traveling on my own now. All I need to decide is when to go. Think Turgutreis is best as I do know my way around and a few of the people there so shouldn't feel so strange.

And Gino they lovely men out there are just for looking at I know what they are like!!

Thank's again. x
