Re: Humidity in Olu Deniz

Yes Saoirse I know, but I was also looking at kusadasi that's why Maura mentioned adnan. Still haven't decided which region to go to. I know it's not ur thing but which region would you recommend kusadasi or OD? We like to go exploring and go on trips, but I think they're much the same whichever resort u go to, do u think??

Re: Humidity in Olu Deniz

Olu is a beautiful place but I hate recommending anywhere as there's so many imponderables .

Do you like nightlife, quiet time, touristy place, quieter place etc etc

We don't go to clubs (we're 40) but like to wander around, meet people, people watch etc. we like visiting cultural places and especially villages, so would definitely spend a night or two in a rural location. We've done both the touristy resorts and the quiet resorts and ideally would like a location where both are accessible.

Re: Humidity in Olu Deniz

If you are flying to Izmir cesme or foca as previously suggested have not been spoilt by mass tourism. Kusadasi is a very built up area with high rise hotels, popular with cruise ships so would not be my top choice. Izmir also serves Altinkum, and surrounding areas, very popular with British and Irish visitors and whilst suitable for many people it would no longer be suited for someone who wants authentic Turkey.
Same problem with Olu and hisonoru , whilst the scenery is very beautiful it is very commercialised. Dalyan is quite nice, situated on the river so you can take a boat to the beach. Lots of very good restaurants and plenty to keep you occupied. The Lycian rock tombs can be seen up on the surrounding hillside, the beach is a protected area because of the Turtles there is ancient caunos to visit. The mud baths are very popular and busy with day trippers but quite fun if you have not tried before.
The Datca peninsular remains unspoilt as few operators go there. If you hire a car, it is well worth the drive , there are many small hotels and plenty of self catering options. Larger tour operators do not go there but some of the specialist companies do, so worth some investigation. I spend a lot of time in this area and have not found it particularly humid.
Hope this helps.
