Luggage wrapping at Bodrum Airport?

Hi there, does anyone know if there is a luggage wrapping machine at Bodrum, you know where you can cellophane the whole case? Just trying to look at ways that tablets/laptops would be safe in hold luggage coming back to the UK!!

Thanks
Sara

Re: Luggage wrapping at Bodrum Airport?

If you have no small case to put your laptop in , they will put it in a sealed locked plastic case . We sent ours in a small case all locked up , We thought we would not see any of the stuff in the case , It arrived all in tact ...I then realized we had put all keys in that lap top case , So after seeing some guy on face book , how to get into the case ..He pushed the end of the pen into the zip and it opens , well of course it DID , to my surprise .... Open case , keys out , sipped back up , looked like id not even open it .So i prayed the baggage handlers had not seen the same thing , Be aware also arrive early to the Airport cause they swab you over with a piece of tape that sees if your carrying drugs and they do the test in front of you . After 3 searches bodily , we were free to go , If this was June July and August , there would have been a right carry on .

Why not just buy one of those big rolls of kitchen cling film?
or What I did this time was to use some industrial carpet protector similar to cling film but a bit thicker and much wider roll.

Re: Luggage wrapping at Bodrum Airport?

I brought over my Guitar in a hard rectangular case , as well as that Kath wanted to bring a 2 foot square painting and an ornate 3 part hinged mirror for sitting on top of a dressing table
A neighbour suggested a tech drawing tube for the painting, which we'd stripped off the wooden frame , this fitted inside my guitar case and was put in there the day before we flew , just in case it had issues with my guitar finish
Also that day, we carefully placed the guitar case on 2 chairs, placed the mirror (inside it's polystyrene box ) on top of it and used 3 big boxes of cling film all around it
I had made 4 signs , two in Turkish two in English saying "Fragile- Glass" and put these under the last few layers of cling film on either side

At Liverpool airport I was asked to go to a dedicated drop off counter for fragile items , where the package was x rayed
We waited at Bodrum and that was the only case that didn't come up the conveyor belt , but was actually brought to us by an airport employee
On the way out, we were stopped by 2 security guards and asked what was in the weird looking case , I told them and they just waved us through

I brought a small electric arc unit, some welding rods and around 8 sq m of tubular steel with me to the airport.

Creating a cross frame with 30mil steel sheeting, and most importantly angle grinding excess weld on corners and joints- I was able to create a simple yet effective protective cover for my Atari laptop.

I was stunned to read this -

I had no idea that Atari made laptops

Nothing so strange as a visionary Andalusian part time emigre , third removed.

What did you do with the welding unit and angle grinder? I think we should be told!
