Re: Bodrum Bus Station

Really, I didn't see any sign of that last week when I was there.

I would have thought that the bus station needs to be centrally situated rather than on the outskirts.

We were also there just a few days ago and there was a massive advertising board in the bus station with the Mayors face and a picture of the proposed new bus station , we also went past the construction site (well on the way to completion) swathed in advertising showing the plan on the junction to Torba , when on the airport bus after flying down from Istanbul ...

Many new Turkish bus stations are just on the outskirts of towns or cities normally with free service dolmus's to the centre supplied by the bus companies .

New Turkish bus stations end up like cold looking airport departures lounges ( as this one does as well )it loses some of the appeal the old bus stations had , but that may just be a bit of nostalgia.....

I was really wondering what they will do with the prime site that the old bus station sits on ......

We would oft go for a pide in the Bod bus station cafe, sitting outside and just people watch, it was like a 1960's British Fly on the wall documentary, all life flowed through in the half hour we sat

Some of the best meat casseroles and pilafs were to be had at the bus station caffs, the bigger buses used to terminate on the main road and shuttles and dolmus’s would take you from there to the dolmus station or hotels respectively.

If it's the massive building going up I saw, it was just before the main road to the A Port on the Torba road ,before you go under the flyover .
Being built on the right hand side as we drove up on way to A port on the Torba Rd.

Re: Bodrum Bus Station

Ah, so we are talking about the big coaches rather than the local Dolmus. In which case it makes sense to keep the buses out of the town centre. The road down to the bus station is a bit of a nightmare at times.

Now the roundabout into Torba will be a nightmare! Think they will need some lights.

Re: Bodrum Bus Station

Great get coach to Torba bus , get off with cases , goat and cockerel in cage , transfer to dolmus with said attendants , drive to Bodders .

So three long distance travellers in chock full dolmus , yep can see the advantage there .

One bus of 90 travelers and attendants or how many dolmus ?
