Council Tax - Joint Owners

Anyone now if the Turkish Council Tax is payable per dwelling or per owner?
We are joint owners & have individual council cards with separate ID numbers, but don't know whether we pay individually, or once for the property?

Northender hi

What are council cards? Never heard of these before?

Or are you referring to Vergi Number Cards?

Merv!

Hi northender.....like you, our apartment in Hisaronu/Ovacik is in joint names and we've 2 tax numbers because of it. The local Belediye gave us 2 seperate bills for the same amount. Not sure what you mean by "council cards" though.

Hi Northender,we paid our council tax when we were out the first week in May.We had to pay half each as we are joint owners,we were then giving seperate cards which we take back each time to pay the tax. They also wouldn't accept english notes we had to go out and exchange some and go back and pay it in Turkish lira.We were also told that council tax has to be paid by the end of May if not you pay a penalty.[8D]

So do you mean that if one person owns the villa they pay, for example 150 YTL, but if there are 2 owners they each pay 75 YTL or each pays 150 YTL?

We were given unique ID cards by the Belediye in Yalikavak, same sort of size as Tax cards which we got from Bodrum, hence I presume we pay individually rather for the property. Not sure if we pay a % each of the Council Tax or all pay the same amount though, hence the question.

Hi,
I own a property in Kusadasi, which i bought in July. It is a brand new villa on a complex and council tax has not yet been mentioned. Should i make myself known to Davutlar (where property is) or Kusadasi Belediyse for payment. I am a bit confused over this. Is this the property tax, or is the council tax another one? If i take my Tapu copy to the council will they tell me if we owe anything or just take money off you anyway! Hehehee...there does'nt seem to be any set rules for the bill paying..LOL...its like learning with our Mother all over again isnt it!!! Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Lorraine
