Open All Year Round?
Hi Everyone
As I hope to move to Turkey permanently [8D]I need to locate in an area that is open all year round and not a resort that closes for the winter. I know that Antalya is open all year round and nice place too. This is one of the places I am looking at but I have no other experiences of other resorty type places that open all year - can you suggest any?
Firstly I am in the process of selling my property UK but I will have to come over with just the clothes on my back, my bank balance and find a rented apartment first. It has been suggested by one agency corresponding with me that at the moment I would find it very difficult to rent an apartment in the next couple of months because of the tourist season. However, I doubt I will be over asap yet. Maybe late September.
I will be looking for a very cheap apartment (2 bedroomed possibly 3)to begin with to buy. As cheap as possible. I noticed some for as cheap as £25,000 but I can go higher if I have to. I'm not in the business of buying a huge villa I'm not that rich lol!
Be grateful of any suggestions. [ ]

Turgutreis is a working town but a lot of the restaurants and bars shut down in the winter. All the restaurants on the seafront stay open and I guess about three bars are open all year round. We have got 4 supermarkets there and bakeries etc which are all open and I think Bodrum is the say except Bodrum is a much bigger place, it's very busy in the summer and quite busy in the winter.
Buybodrum are an Estate Agents in Bodrum, I'm not sure how much properties are now but I think they are still a bit cheaper in the Altinkum area although they seem to be going up very quickly.
Good luck

Fethiye is a working small town, I know most of the bars etc. in the tourist areas are closed for business, but local people still live there and life goes on.
Same can be said for most places just outside the resorts, depends how you want to spend you time I suppose, if you want to integrate into the local community, it's not going to be a problem, you are just not going to have a lot of tourists about, so no bars and touristy type of restaurants.
I was in Altinkum a few weeks ago, this is a resort on the seaside, so there is nothing but tourist business, but only 10 minutes by foot begins Didim, the local town, people are still going to be around and local shops and restaurants are going to be open.
This is my thinking anyway, but maybe someone with more knowledge can correct me????
