Re: Australian's, Residency Visa's & Property Purchase's

the laws changed a couple of weeks ago or so ago allowing any nationality to purchase property in turkey, before there were restrictions on many countries, for example iran iraq, isreal and so on.

Re: Australian's, Residency Visa's & Property Purchase's

Hi Amanda, Sorry, this will not help you, but just MIGHT make you smile wryly...! At least the Tapu office have told you you CAN buy in Turkey, even though technically it sounds impossible! I am a New Zealander, and I wanted to buy in Fethiye, but the Tapu Office there have said that New Zealanders cannot purchase property in Turkey...although a Turkish lawyer insisted we were allowed. Stalemate! I'd be interested to see how you get on with this. Keep us informed, and good luck, plus a miracle :-)

Re: Australian's, Residency Visa's & Property Purchase's

Hi Amanda,
Thanks. Do you know if this special permission from Ankara is a new thing
for Australians, or did we always have to do it....just didn't know about it ?.
This thing takes about 3 months to process, do you know how long it will
be valid for ?..indefinitely, the length of the RP ?
Its a great relief to hear there is a solution. THANK YOU. But more paper work
is very depressing!!!!. I am just starting to sort through the RP process, I've
got school kids who may /or may not(!!) need student visas. On and on it
goes.
I have to rent in Turkey till I get "my bearings".So I hope they don't change
things again in the meantime!.Sorry another question to you know if you can
apply for this at the same time as the RP? But thats a different Dept ?

Thanks again for asking this question. Unwarned I may of been
up for forfeiting any deposit if i had tried to purchase something !. Yikes!!

Sue

Hi Sue, where are you based? Or what area are you planning to live in? If anywhere near Kusadasi or Didim I would recommend you speaking to this solicitor. He's done Australian sales in the passed and obtained the Special permission himself. He will take care of all the paperwork for you, and he speaks very good English.

Re: Australian's, Residency Visa's & Property Purchase's

hi Amanda,
I am in Islamabad at present. I will not move to Turkey until next summer and then
have to get settled. I probably have to live in Ankara, but am looking to buy something, probably on the coast . Don't have a clue where yet. I would like to be pre prepaired;
ie have this approval so i can buy if i see the right thing. Not missout because of the
3 month wait. Would setting up a company and buying with the co. avoid this permission?
I posted on the new members area today under '....Ankara 'if you want to know more on
my situation
Thanks again
Sue

Re: Australian's, Residency Visa's & Property Purchase's

Hi Sue, there is an Australian lady working at one of the Universities in Ankara who is trying to buy right now a property near Kemer. The best advise I would give you is wait and see how this pans out. There is nothing you can do right now. You need to consider very carefully setting up company just to purchase a property as it can work out very expensive. You have taxes and accountants fees to pay each month regardless of whether your company is active. I'll keep you informed of every step so you know what to do yourself when you come to buy. By the time you have settled and decided to buy a holiday home things could have changed again. I would also still advise you use a Solicitor to do all the running around and paperwork for you - one who has experience in this field.
