Burglary season starts
I live in Koca Calis and there have been reports of 4 break-ins in the last week. This happened at the same sime as last year and it was thought that building workers were returning home now the tourist season had started along with new TVs etc.
I have heard that a small boat was also taken on its trailer

Re: Burglary season starts
Do the police ever catch these burglars? You're constantly hearing about the problem but never hearing about the thieves being caught.

Nowhere is safe from thieves these days. I have a relative living in a lovely, quiet, scenic part of Ireland. Last month she looked out the window in the early afternoon to see two men in the process of loading her garden gate in the back of a van. Luckily they fled when she shouted at them. She didn't see any point in reporting the incident to the police.

Re: Burglary season starts
We did hear that they shot one dead a year or so ago, but I don't know if that was true. To be honest I haven't a clue, they do all the reports etc but whether people hear of any follow up action I don't know.
We did get quite a big Jandarma presence at one stage with lots of patrols but someone told me later that it was because one of the Chiefs was burgled and was not amused! That burglary coupled with another one last year also showed that it was not just foreigners who were victims.

There was a bunch of break ins in Uzumlu last year and they did get caught. They were from eastern Turkey. I heard that one of the things taken was a laptop, this was returned to the owner.

Too true. I have pet rabbits running free in my back garden and today a small boy of around 7 broke the fence and stole a baby rabbit. Luckily I saw him run off and his mates told me where he lived so baby was returned to mum. Crime happens everywhere!!!!
