Dust and noise on a summers afternoon
I remember a time when in summer almost all building work stopped. This year no one seems to care even the council have continued with the road building.
Maybe they should all remember this when next year they are wondering where the tourists are once again.
Maybe a little less speed and greed now would benefit everyone in the future.
I live near the Melissa 2 project in Calis. It is now 8.15pm and the final cement lorries seems to be leaving ( fingers crossed as the baby is already an hour late going to bed because off the noise).
I met a very sad family this evening they were standing by my garden wall with there suitcase's. Being friendly i asked if they had had a good holiday. The lady looked down at her feet and walked away. The man explained they had arrived on Friday and could take no more of it. They were waiting to be picked up, were going to spend 2 nights in a hotel in Dalaman and were flying back Monday. They worked all year to pay for two weeks holiday and they end up slap bang in the middle of a building site. I will not repeat his opinion off Calis but rest assured they will not be coming back nor will anyone he tells his story to.
I do know it is not just the Melissa builder it is most builders but this is the one i live close to.

Re: Dust and noise on a summers afternoon
I will speak to Nazif on Tuesday and show him this thread, but I cant do the same for Nicholas and the other builders around that area.
This subject of building was brought up at a meeting last year with the residents, apparently Olu Deniz and parts of Hisaronu along with central Calis are classed as holiday resorts, therefore no building, if building continues it is upto the hoteliers to make a complaint.
This is not much use when you are the owner of a private property, this apparently is classed as a residential area and does not come under the same category as the hotels. However, if enough people in the area affected during the season approach the council, a man will come along assess the situation and if need be will ask them nicely to stop, or (now dont laugh) ask them to work quietly, as asked by one hotel owner in Calis.
As for road building, when questioned why the road projects were started at the beginning of the season by the tour companies, the reason was: "Because we need heat for the Tar" ??? how on earth does the UK cope!!!
(Dont shoot the messenger please)

They should be fined by the councils if they have complaints about noise after a certain time, thats the only thing they will take notice of "money".

Re: Dust and noise on a summers afternoon
Its been the same in Altinkum this summer, supposedly they must stop building during the summer months, but at the back/side of Migros they have been building 7 days a week from 7am to late,

Re: Dust and noise on a summers afternoon
Hi
Thanks for reply Lorraine
As a resident i have come to expect it but what builders and others have to begin to understand is that in areas like this there may not be any hotels but about 90% of the houses and apartment are rental properties. It is these properties that make up a large if not majority portion of the holiday makers who come here.

Re: Dust and noise on a summers afternoon
I know where you are coming from, but Calis has very little in the way of Tour operators (Thompson, First choice etc..) These are the ones with voices to be heard and not individual rental properties. With so many hotels being demolished in Calis making way for apartments then the resort of Calis will most probably always be classed as residential, excluding the central itself and the hotel along the coast.
We used the new main road today from Ciftlik to Calis Dolphin roundabout, by the looks of it much more building works to come.
