Scooter regulations
I am interested to find out what the regulations are for scooters, either hiring or owning.
Basically what are the restrictions for a person with a UK standard driving licence. Passed my test in 1982, have cars/trailers/lgvs etc but do not have a bike licence.
Thanks in advance
Mike.

Re: Scooter regulations
You need to have a motorcycle license here in Turkey even for a scooter. There is a course you need to take and then you write an exam.

Re: Scooter regulations
Don't believe they have an English test. Don't quote me on that though as maybe they have adopted one. A couple years ago they didn't offer it in English. There are courses but if you know how to ride they don't offer you much. You can negotiate this course also or atleast my wife did, considerably. The course she took was a joke though but it was a registerd course and when you pass it you don't need to take the riders test, just the written one to get your license. My wife went to learn from what I thought would be professional motorcycle instructors, HAHA. They threw her the keys and said go have fun. Not a good deal!!! You would need a translator with you when taking the written test. It's very simple.

Don't forget you will need to be able to balance the weeks shopping, spouse, two or three very small children, granny, the large family dog and any other bits and pieces you may pick up on your journey.

Sure you can hire one. They are not supposed to rent to you but always do. If you get caught the fine is yours to pay. You don't have insurace on rented scooters either so beware of that. Very risky!!!

Re: Scooter regulations
I mistakenly thought that scooters were running on 13kg bottles of gas, took ages to realise it is a common method for delivery.
