Re: satnav

We are hiring a car next month and one of the options was a sat nav so i suppose there are maps.I haven't seen any updates for maps for Turkey in the UK.

A sat nav story.........................My brother is holidaying in France and phoned me yesterday to ask did I know the co ordinates of the ferry terminal in Boulogne. He has been using this terminal at least 6 times while he has his sat nav.Told him to phone back and have his sat nav on with Boulogne harbour showing so that I could talk him through it using my sat nav.Turned out he didn't have the road names showing so I had to tell him how to get them on the screen.Anyway we got there eventually and then he said 'oh there's a star there' Turned out he had saved it in his 'favourites' and would have been easy to program in!

I think SatNav in Turkey is very limited outside of Istanbul.

Re: satnav

The best way to find out is to log onto your SatNav manufacturer's web site and check out the available maps. There is no point asking about general availability as what you need will be specific to your system.
I think Istanbul and Ankara are covered by some sytems, but not much else.

We have a Garmin and last year were looking for Turkey, I think you can get one from America but it was expensive if I remember right something like $300.

I don't know how much use this is to you, but here is a link to Gold computer online catalogue for satnav systems in Turkey. It might give you a clue:

Re: satnav

Have you tried the.tr page at garmin com?

There looks to be Turkish maps there but they cost about 125 euros. I have a Garmin StaNav and will probably be trying to persuade the Finance Director (aka my wife) that we need this but only after we get a car.
