The desks of the main brands are not manned 24/7, but if you pre-book they will arrange a delivery to meet the flight, but you may get extra fees for an out of hours service.

The local companies - Proper Car, Valley etc are possibly the best for rates and tend not to have these extra fees.

Online booking with Economycarrentals.com are also pretty good - they are a broker that offers the best rates for various classes of car - last hire I had off them came from Erboy Car in Izmir, for a rental at Bodrum - but their paperwork was also headed National Car Rental, so as most local rental compaies also work with the main brands, so you can be pretty sure of the service.

Pre booking will also make sure you get the best rates - and watch for seasonal offers, like extra days for no charge or a free upgrade. You might also get a deal off an airline loyalty scheme too - e.g. Turkish Airlines have a tie up with a few companies that will benefit your card with miles/points but also offer discounts. Their discounted rates might not be as low as some rates booked direct with hire companies, but worth checking all the same - Sixt have a good price at hte moment with Turkish which looks like it matches the local hire rates.
