Re: Another Driving Licence Question

Need some advice please - have been resident in TR for 8 years. Have lost the plastic card part of the licence and only have the paper counterpart. DVLC have advised that as i am no longer resident in the UK, they can only issue a 'certificate of competence' to drive. Will this be acceptable if applying for a TR licence ?

Re: Another Driving Licence Question

We have today found out we have to produce educational certificates from school or uni to get a Turkish licence. I have mine but my husband lost his in a house move years ago. Has anyone else been in this predicament? If so did you get copy certificates sent from the examination Board? Do they want originals? The policeman in charge at our local police station was rude and unhelpful. It's crazy to think you need an old school certificate in order to drive a car here! Any advice would be much appreciated.

I threw mine away when I moved over to Turkey. Google AQA for replacement exam certificates, cost £37 I am waiting for them to send mine.

Re: Another Driving Licence Question

THE LATEST INFO ISSUED TODAY ON DRIVING LICENCE EXCHANGE.
From The UKinTurkey 12/4/2016.

We have now received an update from the Turkish MFA on the exchange of foreign driving licences.
On the issue of the 6 month validity period they state ‘kindly be advised that validity term of the driving licences of foreign nationals in Turkey start with their entry to Turkey. This validity term restarts with every new entry.’
On the educational certificates issue the MFA inform us that ‘a certificate of education’ is required for the exchange process. For those of you who, like many of us, have no longer got your original school certificates you can apply for a copy using https://www.gov.uk/replacement-exam-certificate ..If you can’t get a replacement certificate for an O level, CSE, GCSE or A level - your exam board will send you a ‘certified statement of results’ instead. On this site there is a list of which exam board you need to contact if your old exam board no longer exists.
In addition, we are aware that some of you have asked about using the ‘driving licence information’ or code from the DVLA that you can find on gov.uk-https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to give to the Turkish Traffic Authorities instead of them contacting the DVLA directly about the validity and authenticity of your UK licence. Acceptance of the information in this format, which is not an official document, depends entirely on the discretion of the Turkish authorities and would likely require translating and notarising if accepted which would incur additional expense.

Get a replacement exam certificate - GOV.UK
Request a replacement exam certificate or a certified statement of results if you've lost your original - check the list of old exam boards if your board no longer exists

Re: Another Driving Licence Question

Ironically there is no mention of needing an educational certificate on the official egm.gov.tr website where it details what you need to do to get a foreign licence exchanged for a Turkish one.

Re: Another Driving Licence Question

I have been trying to find out which exam board I need to contact but my old school say they do not hold records that far back I took an educated guess but have now been informed that they can find no results & pocketed a chunk of the money. Am I supposed to try every board which will cost me a fortune ???

Re: Another Driving Licence Question

Yes but this issue has never been fully explained

If you have a Uk licence and need to change to a Turkish one but you haven't been in hospital on SGK without a Tapu for the previous 180 days whilst your dog has been on SSK whilst waiting for a work permit, what do you do

I remember Sleepy saying he was an expert on this and asked members rather than post to just pm their queries direct to him

So get sending folks

Infact moderators should post his private email addy as well as his mobile phone number so he can take queries on this 24/7

Lol.
In fairness this is indeed my fault for bringing up the subject on another thread....'don't mention the war' and all that !
