Re: Electric scooters

All electric bikes over 250watts and/or with a higher maximum speed of 25 KPH must be registered with the Police. This means they have to be insured ( but no road tax ), riders wear helmets & you need at least a full car license to ride them. They are now treated the same as an ''up to 49cc scooter''.

So are they saying a full motorcycle license isn't good enough? I was hoping no license would be needed at all. But it appears from what you say under 250watts no license and no need to register.

Re: Electric scooters

Don't honestly know about a full bike licence but as you say UNDER 250 watts, no problem

I don't have a problem in any case as I took a bike test then a car test so my licence has loads of categories on it
When I showed it to a waiter friend of ours, he was amazed, he'd never seen so many categories

Re: Electric scooters

We have kids of all ages with NIL road sense riding these things around. They come up the wrong side of the road, ride 2 or 3 abreast, and worse still they turn off the lights at night to make the battery last longer. No helmets, of course.
There is going to be an awful accident one day soon. The police do nothing about it.
What are the parents doing?
