Greece

Hi! I know many of us have been going to Greece for our bargains. Cheap wine, beer etc.

We have heard reports that it is now getting very expensive over there.

Does anyone have any first hand recent experience of the prices?

We all love a bargain

Re: Greece

Hello,We had a week on Lesvos in September,it definately was,nt cheap I cant give you the exact prices, but dearer than Turkey. Having said that we found an Aldi with lots of
cheap wine + beer and food stuff you cant get in Turkey, without over doing it we stocked a fair bit into the car boot.(own car cannot take a rental) and sailed through customs without a problem.

Re: Greece

Agree totally Hijo, a group of us went to Kos for a day out; the prices generally were the same as turkey with one huge exception - they were euros where we are used to lira. So effectively everything was more than double our normal pricing.
Not rushing back, but at least I know what to expect if I do go.

Re: Greece

I went to Kos one day this summer. You can find bacon and sausages for much cheaper than in Turkey. I also bought some alcohol - bottles of spirits and wine were cheaper too. Only one litre of spirit allowed through customs though.

Not Greece, but Europe .... restaurants in the north of Rimini, Italy, wanted E3.5 for a glass of coke - needless to say, didn't eat out often!

However, supermarket shopping was a little more affordable.

Clue to that may be the fact that they are PORK products and we know how the Turkish customs just love pork!

correct delal also you have to weigh up the ferry costs too ,unless you have to go for your visa ..then ofcourse you would get your pork stuff in Greece ..but you always run the risk of getting it confiscated ..really depends on the custom guys if they are having a good day ..or maybe his missus has had a go at him before he left for work ..then he will take it out on you
