Re: For sale - gas heaters in Dalaman

Just a word of caution.....DO NOT USE GAS BOTTLE APPLIANCES in high rise apartments.

Due to the risk of gas escaping, the gas rises and will store itself in any sealed room it manages to escape to. Then the risk of explosion if ignited by someone unaware of its presence.

Gas should be stored outdoors while not in use. Some condominiums do not permit gas appliances in apartments.

Hard not to use gas bottles in Turkey, most cooking appliances have gas stoves.

What we do is turn off gas at the regulator every time we leave and disconnect regulator from bottle. Also change the rubber o-ring seal on the bottle on the first trip out every year as that dozes in the heat and can easily cause leaks.

Re: For sale - gas heaters in Dalaman

Hi Kemerkid & TNT123

I stand corrected....... basing my knowledge on information gained from our Caretaker. When I lived in Spain our condominium committee did not allow portable gas heaters, all sorts of reasons offered, danger of setting fire to items placed close to the device or the device moved inadvertently towards flammable material. Risk from leaking gas etc. They were deemed as unsafe and our insurance company banned their use.

They did not allow Gas Barbecues either. One owner was challenged when found with a gas cylinder in his basement storeroom. Apparently unsafe to store underground because of pressure change.....again that may be wrong also.

Our committee insisted on using the purpose made gas installations.

However the content of my message was to be careful when using such devices, gas can escape if not used properly.
