Imports from usa

Have any members bought clothes from US websites and had them delivered to Turkey.
If so did you have to pay applicable taxes or duties in Turkey and if so how.

Obviously been the villain that I am, I would rather not!

Sir, you are a blaggard, a bounder and a tax avoidance fraudster. Would you care to consider a career in politics

Re: Imports from usa

there was a recent thread about this, and one of the posters stated that the tax became liable over a certain weight, maybe you could have your cowboy boots delivered in seperate deliveries to avoid this.

Re: Imports from usa

The sheriff of a small town walked out into the street and saw a blonde cowboy coming down the walk with nothing on but his cowboy hat, gun and boots.

The sheriff arrests him for indecent exposure. As he is locking him up, he asks, "Why in the world are you dressed like this?"

The cowboy says, "Well it's like this Sheriff... I was in the bar down the road and this pretty little redhead asked me to go out to her motor home with her... and I did. We went inside and she pulled off her top and asked me to pull off my shirt. so I did... Then she pulls off her skirt and asks me to pull off my pants so I did...

"Then she pulls off her panties and asks me to pull off my shorts, so I did... Then she gets on the bed and looks at me kind of funny and says, 'Now go to town cowboy...'

"So here I am."

Re: Imports from usa

I have had a couple of swimming costumes and cosmetics sent from USA, they were just delivered via normal post, maybe it is the weight that is the issue because I didn't have to pay anything.

Re: Imports from usa

I buy items regularly from the USA. If the value of the items is 75 euros or less, you are not liable for customs duty. If it is over that, you are subject to being charged duty for the full value, not just the amount in excess. There seems to be a bit of variation between different customs "ports", but that is what the regulations state. This is for items coming through the Postal Service. I also always have a "processing fee" when I pick up items at post office, usually 2-4TL. No, this is NOT a scam my PTT is pulling- there is an actual form with assessment written on it that you must sign and are given a copy of it. Items coming via UPS or FEDEX seem to have a higher deductible, but there is nothing written that specifically states that. I tend to pick the shipping option based on value of merchandise. One additional thing is that if the item is Made in China, there are very specific quotas that Turkey allows for particular items. Never a problem early in the year, but as it's now approaching the end it might not get through customs. Vendor will notify you if problem. Shoes seem to meet the quota quite early- hard to get Made in China footwear much after Sept! Feel free to PM if you have any specific questions.
