How much for efes?

Yesterday in Lefkosa I bought a 4 pack of Efes for 8.45 TL thats just over 2.11 TL per bottle.

How cheap are they in your area?

It's not a level playing field as you pay less KDV than mainland Turkey so you're bound to be cheaper.

Ok I agree that Efes is likely to be cheaper here in TRNC but that just demonstrates even further how much the Turkish government want locals to stop drinking or for us drinkers to pay so much tax.

Efes is made in Turkey and we have to pay for it to be imported to TRNC!

They also brew it, under license, in the TRNC.

Hi,

I'm sure the ones I have are imported from the mainland.

I think that the OP was trying to show just how much tax is levied on a simple can of Efes. It's not just a simple as KDV. Even at 2.11TL the stores/suppliers are making a profit-so how much is it really worth?

Now when it comes to spirits-a bottle of Vat 69 whiskey-16.40TL against over 90TL on the mainland. A bottle of Doluca -7TL and 15/16TL on the mainland (last time I was there).

Mr Erdogan once tried to ban alcohol completely but he failed-so now he's taxed it out of most people's reach.
It will eventually have an impact on tourism-people do want a drink when they go on holiday.

Thank you Ann, with man flu I need all the help I can get to make my point.

And while on the subject I was drinking a nice bottle of Spanish wine last, imported and just cost 4.95 TL!

I didn't know that, but just checked the bottles I bought and they are 100% from Turkey.
