Re: Omega Watch

My life with watches started at an early age due to my parents displeasure with my time management and a lack of punctuality. My father bought me my first watch when I was about 8/9, it didn't improve matters much but it did became one of my earliest status symbols. Eventually though during my many schoolyard fights with Kevin Flannigan it finaly gave up.
My father always wore the same simple Oris watch and eventually decided I was old enough to own one as well when 12 or so. The watch served me well for several years after I left home. When I began to earn a good wage I went through quite a few watches.
When I worked in the Channel Isle I bought a Seiko watch when the season was over and I was going back to the Mainland some bright spark told me they would take it off me at the British customs. Gullible me , I Selotaped the the watch to the sole of my foot and taped the band to my belly. As was the custom there we all went out for a good drink and they escorted me to the airport. During the flight I opened a bottle I had planned to give to my dad. When we reached Southend airport I was incapable and the police were there waiting for me. One of the cops was a huge rugby player I had become friendly with a few years earlier. He vouched for me and took me home to my parents home. I woke up the next morning with the mother and father of a hangover but I still had the watch.
My mother had bought me a solid gold watch for my 21st which I kept safe for 25 years hardly ever wearing it until We had a break-in. It took me some years to get over that. Some years later I bought myself a gold plaited Rotary chronograph.
My flitation with watches has continued to this day and below are pictured six I still have.

Here they are in chronological order.

Re: Omega Watch

Of your watches my 1st choice would be the white faced and then the gold faced. I am not too keen on the chunkier styles.

Re: Omega Watch

I have a Citizen solar powered watch, it keeps perfect time and never needs any attention, just daylight. I bought one for the husb for Christmas 14 years ago which also keeps perfect time.

Re: Omega Watch

My mother had a gold Omega with a heavy gold bracelet strap. I believe she may have given it to her cleaner !! Mother and I didn't get on and her ashes are still residing at the Co-Op after about 10 years ! Do they keep them for ever, do you know ?

Re: Omega Watch

I believe the unclaimed urns are left on the mantlepiece in the waiting rooms, most of the deceased have put on quite a bit of weight due to people using them as ash trays.
