We are thinking of spending next new year (2007/8),in Dalaman,can anyone tell me what its like ?

Hi Alan,
We have spent the last four years previous to this year in Dalaman at Christmas time and New Year.
They do celebrate the new year, we booked a table at the Topricanna Resturant, we had a nice meal, the place was busy mainly turkish family's.

I am sure now that Dalaman is a touristic area the Beldadiye will be celebrating with a few fire works, which they seem to do for everthing else these days. I did see some tacky christmas decorations in the shops in Novemeber this year.

We hope to be there permanent next year.

hello Alan,
Not a lot going on here during New Year..Fethiye has a lot more to offer with organised New Year parties in many hotels, restaurants and bars. Generally these are mixed occasions enjoyed by both Turkish and ex pat residents. After all it is the only holiday occasion we can properly share with our Turkish friends and neighbours. We didn't see anything advertised in Dalaman..hopefully next year?
