Had the pleasure of meeting up with Harem in the VIP Lounge a couple weeks ago as we both headed out of Turkey. Decided to meet there so we could give members a report on the facility.

I paid £12.50, but Harem may comment on the price as she thinks she may have been overcharged. I think she paid in YTL and got euros for the change or visa versa and she lost out in the conversion.

Anyway we met at around 11pm and it was very quiet, only 3 other people there who soon left, so we got the place to ourselves. It's a large lounge area with lots of comfy leather sofas and coffee tables with ashtrays. That pleased me, but not Harem and I guess it's not the place for Terry and Susan!

There's a plasma TV on the wall and 3 PC's with free internet access. Lots of newspapers and magazines too, but we didn't check what language they were in as we were too busy chatting!

There's a free hot and cold finger-style buffet and the first glass of wine or beer is free. There are unlimited free soft drinks (coke, fanta, lemonade etc) and free tea and coffee as well, with quite a selection of different teas.

Not sure about Harem, but I would use it again. With the prices they charge for food in the cafes on the concourse, I thought it was good value and a nice place to relax, particularly useful if you have delay.

Hope this is useful info for anyone curious about the facility.

Thanks for that DD. I shall use it soon. On my last visit I spent a couple of hours dozing on the floor in departures. I hadn't thought of looking for a lounge! It will be particularly useful for those middle of the night departures.

Is it really a V.I.P lounge or a business class type lounge,where non V.I.Ps can pay to get into.
I was watching some of the Great north run on sunday and so called V.I.Ps appeared to be shepperded away at the end to what I can only assume was the V.I.P area.You know the usual suspects,tasty geezer from Eastenders,bird who used to be on Eastenders ten years ago,guy who reads the news,badly,someone who cooks,even worse the the guy who reads the news,you know the usual lot who are always in for a freebie.
So what about the other few thousand who toiled there way from Newcastle to Shields aren't they good enough to get the free hospitality the liggers get,I know who I'd rather have a drink with.Sorry to digress,but V.I.Ps are so sad to expect the superstardom treatment,we are worse if we give them it and the title V.I.P.

Sounds quite swish DD.
I guess you become a VIP if you are willing to pay but I wouldnt want to come out feeling like a smoked mackerel and I can get the same atmosphere free by standing near a bonfire LOL
