Possible purchase

I have seen a detached villa advertised in the Dalaman area, which I am keen on. Although I am still trying to find out exactly where it is. It is 6 km to Dalaman beach, 15 km to Gocek marina and 6 km to Dalaman Airport. Can anyone please tell me briefly about the Dalaman area. How does it compare to Kudadasi, where we have a place now. Thank you and Merry Christmas

Re: Possible purchase

Hi jnj,

We're buying in Dalaman too so if we can be of any help please
contact us at any time.
We were attracted to Dalaman because it's not a main tourist
area but that is all about to change! We don't mind because it's
been a good buy what with all the investment that's now going on.
Is the beach you call Dalaman beach Sarigerme? Is the villa North of
Dalaman? From what you describe it sounds as though it may be not
too far from our place.
If you do decide to go ahead with the move then good luck and we
hope to see you there some time in the future.

Have you been in contact with the agent? the only places that I could tell by the location given would be nearer to Ortaca or Ocular (spelling?) might be the othe way round this would put you near to Sarigarme, and right distance approx for airport and as the crow flies for Gocek over the mountain until the tunnel is finally completed.
Pin the agent down for the nearest town this may help in getting members who have a property in the area to help you further.

Thank you both. I've e mailed the agent, but am still waiting. Its just that have no idea at all about the Dalaman area. Of all the places I have visited in Turkey, Dalaman isn't one of them. I hope to hear soon.

Re: Possible purchase

It sounds like the villa is halfway between Sarigerme beach and the airport, as they are 12kms apart.
Dalaman is a working town of around 20,000 people, and as such not geared up for mass tourism as yet, but the new airport, marina's and golf courses being built, I believe it's going to be the new hot spot. Also the cost of is much cheaper than full blown resorts.

I think you would find that the Dalaman area would be quite different to Kusadasi. Dalaman is a working agricultural town that is starting to gear up for tourism. Sarigerme beach is stunning and the area around Dalaman is very green. We really liked Dalaman and we've bought a house there that should be finished around May (can't wait). It's a bit more like 'real' Turkey than the resort areas. There are some great areas like Dalyan which are only a stone's throw from Dalaman town. With the new golf courses and hotels being built over the next few years, it's been tipped as a hot spot for tourism in the future. It depends on what you're looking for, the resorts are there to cater for tourists but Dalaman isn't-it's still a typically Turkish town. Please let us know how you get on.
