Not sure I agree with that, there are staff costs to cover, rent, tax, power etc.

Re: doubling price of efes

No, that's not the point. If a bar does not make a profit it will close. I want to be able to choose to sit in a nice bar with atmosphere sometimes, so I don't mind paying to do so. You cant on one hand complain about the lack of bars in Dalaman and on the other hand complain when they try to make a decent profit, it's why they go to the bother of running a business after all.

And yes, how I spend my money is up to me, and I choose to sometimes do so supporting local businesses whose presence I appreciate.

I would love to visit your local in the UK if beer and coke are at "ASDA Price". Sounds like a dream come true

Re: doubling price of efes

I can't think of one decent bar in Dalaman with atmosphere, or even a pleasant place with ambiance whatsoever, the main road perhaps with thundering traffic, or the mossie ridden Cinar, I have no objection to bars wanting to make a profit, but really they should earn it.

Re: doubling price of efes

Clearly no concept of how a business runs, presumably you have done some rough business plans to back up your statement ?

Re: doubling price of efes

You could always nip over for a drink at the airport if you find the bars in town too expensive.

I would have to totally disagree, not all the places in Dalaman are smart bars or restaurants like we are used to back in the UK, but they are friendly and most of the staff are really nice.

You really should mix with the local expats, people are having a great time in Dalaman and not being ripped off.

Re: doubling price of efes

Depends on the atmosphere you are looking for I guess, in England I am happy to sit in the Dog and Duck, by a roaring fire with a convivial mutton chop whiskered landlord (or landlady). Here in Turkey I love to be in a bar where the majority of the locals are drinking tea, accompanied by the clack and shouts of backgammon. It's one of the reasons I love it here.
