This afternoon a large fire took place on the hill above Sarigerme, at Akdeniz. It started about four thirty and was put out by about 8 pm. Five helicopters and about a hundred firefighters took part in the operation to control the fire.

A large part of the hillside was destroyed but there was no damage to property or residents of Akdeniz.

We were walking along Calis beach front early this evening and we saw what we thought was smoke and wondered if it was coming from the Dalaman area, as the bay curves so much between Calis and Dalaman i was not sure.

Hope no one was hurt.

I also heard about it last night from my neighbours, they were on their way back from Sarigerme and saw the smoke.
