Re: dalaman
Hi Blue,
The majority of restaurants in Dalaman itself are "cheap and cheerful" types, The best I've found include
Palmiye (down from the airporport towards the Dalyan/Fethiye junction)
Tayyare, (up from Palmiye)
Yossun (on the Fethiye road)
Sofra in the town itself.
The best choice is to go into Gocek. I've tried about 8 or 9 and they've all been similarly reasonably priced and all of a high standard. Also with the tunnel open you can get there in under 15 minutes from Dalaman.
I've only ever got as far as the beach at Sarigerme.

Re: dalaman
Hi Blue- On the inspection trip with Hanel we stopped at restaurant called Topicana ( May have mis-spelt that) it was on the main road near Botanic Gardens- very good food. We sat out in the garden where there was a tree house. childrens play equipment and some animals, chickens, guinea pigs and a turkey.
I know you live close to Botanic Gardens, any feedback you can give on progress appreciated.

Re: dalaman
Have only ever seen Sarigerme from the sea!! But the beach is lovely and there are some a couple of 5 star hotes up there. If you return next year you should see some big changes what with the 18 hole golf course with its lake feature and the promised huge mariner.

Re: dalaman
Take a trip to Dalyan - not far away. Nice riverboat trips and good range of restaurants on the riverbank. Very nice in the evenings with the sun going down over the hill in front of the town.
Also try Koycegiz at the top of the lake. Not a big town but a nice, plain lokanta/restaurant in the market square with excellent food - no view but great food. Nice to stroll anlong the lake front. Many more restaurants along the lake frontage.
Lots of Germans and Scandinavians in Sarigerme.

Re: dalaman
Sarigerme is a lovely little village, there are plenty of choice regarding places to eat, and a wide range of shops which stock most things. The market on Sundays is worth a visit, this is the busiest day of the week in Sarigerme. Otherwise it is very quite which is great if you like a peaceful relaxing shopping trip.

Re: dalaman
There is a very good restaurant called Begonvil in Dalaman town near the bus station, behind the Belediye offices, the food is excellent and it's nice and very cheap.
Also try the Ley-Ley restaurant if your going out towards Dalyan. There is also the Botanic Park just out of Dalaman on the way to Dalyan and there is another one on the opposite side of the road, whose name escapes me, but it is thatched with beautiful gardens.
Sarigerme is lovely and Sarsala is stunning-the drive is spectacular, but a bit hairy in places as it's an unmade mountain road.

Re: dalaman
If you go into Dalyan, our favourite restaurant is the Safran. On the river with lovely views of the lit up Rock Tombs.
When are you going out? We fly out on the 22nd.

Re: dalaman
Hi
I agree with the above posts on places to eat, the ones that count seem to have been mentioned.
The beach at Sarigerme is fantastic, but if you are driving, keep on the main road to the otogar, pay 2ytl to park under cover, then hop on the tractor that will take you to the beach. Once there, you will again have to fork out 1ytl to enter, this money is used to keep the garden approach to the beach, clean and tidy and help towards the animal upkeep. There are plenty of areas to sit, either beach or in the dunes, and a couple of cafes doing beers, soft drinks and snacks.
I went there last week for a swim and the water was like a warm bath, absolute bliss.
If you have any more questions on Dalaman feel free to ask.
