wifi router

Hi everyone.

Shortly after getting the coveted tapu and HC we went for a telephone line and wifi.

Signed up with TT and they include a wifi router in the deal.

It doesnt seem the most powerfull one we have had as we want to share access and costs with 2 neighbours.

so my question.

Can I buy a more powerfull one in the UK take it to the house and will it work in Turkey.

Any advice or practical experiance appreciated

Regards

Alan

Re: wifi router

Telephone sockets ın Turkey aree wıred dıfferently to the UK sockets so you would be better buyıng a better modem here ın Turkey that you could just plug ın and use.
I upgraded my modem to a Lınksys WAG320N whıch at todays prıces ıs cheaper here ın Turkey than UK.

Re: wifi router

Replaced the TTnet Pikatel router with a UK TP Link "n" wireless router absolutely no problems setting it up or using it.

Re: wifi router

Better to buy in Turkey, the reason all the modems selling in Turkey has setted up for the local settings, if you bring from any of country abroad may not match with here or need to do many settings. obvioulsy they are giving a cheap one but there are really good makes in Turkey as well, i recommend U.S Robotics, TP Link ... hope this helps .. regards

Re: wifi router

You may already have a TP Link wireless modem /router which was on the ttnet list, if so they also make a very good router which you can wire up for a different position to get wifi to the other homes, this costs around 90 lira or so. The Address computor shop in Ortaca is the main service agent for ttnet and have a good choice of routers and modems and will be able to advise you on your needs. Routers and modems do seem to be made slightly differently for the Turkish market and are cheap enough now.

thie is very true and if you get found out you will loose your internet all together, but if you still want to go ahead i dont think changing the router will make much difference they all give out pretty much the same power, you could try moving the router around and try it in different positions to see if the signal reaches further otherwise get a repeater.
a uk one would work fine but there is no point as you wont gain anything and you would have to change a few settings,

Re: wifi router

Be it legal or illegal, I just hope you have an unlimited package, else you might either get a big bill or get cut off.

Builders etc take your money and get away with it. You "rob" TTNet of a few TLs and you get taken to court.

Is there justice in this world?

Re: wifi router

TTNet do point out on their website that its illegal to share the service with another address. Obviously some people do, but it doesnt stop it being illegal.
You pays your money and makes your choice!

Not surprisingly its one of their FAQ's, see below
