Can we fit Broadband?

Hi Everyone,

We've had an apartment in Dalyan for a number of years and have now 'upgraded' to a villa.

We'd like to fit Broadband at the villa, but we've been led to believe that to get a telephone line installed, one needs to be a Turkish Resident?

Just wondering if this is indeed the case and if there is any way around this such as getting the line in a Turkish persons name etc?

We've tried a pay as you go mobile 'Dongle' but this is next to useless.

As we run an web based business here in UK it would be very useful to have BB access whilst at the villa.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Unless it has changed very recently you do require residency, here in Fethiye at least.

Re: Can we fit Broadband?

You do need a residency permit but you can get round this by registering the line with the help of a turkish friend.

TTNET are running a campaign up to the end of september where you can get just a data line installed (no phone) here is the link

TTNET | Kampanyalar | ?nterneti Denemesi Bedava Kampanyas?

TTNET supply the router and also will install the line into your villa.

A friend has just had this installed in Okcular and it was all installed and set up in a matter of days.

Many thanks for the advice, we'll see if we can get it organised when in Dalyan later this month.

Best Wishes

Dave

Hi v6cod, could you explain a little more, my turkish is more or less non existent. I would love just the internet as we are only in the house for a few weeks evry year. Do you have any idea of the cost for the year. Many thanks. Maura

Re: Can we fit Broadband?

The campaign I posted a link to for the basic package is free for first two months, 9.99 for next three months and then 32tl a month for the next 18 months there is no line rental charge on top of that. At current rates it works out just over 9 a month over the two years. This includes the router.

If you are only there a few weeks maybe a dongle would be better.

Re: Can we fit Broadband?

Same ruling applies here in Koycegiz too. We took out residency for only 3 months a couple of years ago, purely in order to get a telephone landline in our name. Until then, wed left the landline in the previous owners name but set up a standing order to pay the bills (so previous owner was happy). Once we had the landline, we could get broadband too. After our 3 months residency ran out, nothing happened (no checks by the powers that be), so we still have the services. So, your choices are eithr to get residency yourself (now much cheaper) or to get a friendly Turk to order the services for you.
