Question New to the site and after advice ...Please

Hi all

I have been going back and forth to Turkey for the last five years but am now settling in Ovacik this year. I was wondering if anyone had some good advice on the most cost effective way of bringing your belongings to Turkey. I have no big furniture just mainly clothes (but a lot of them) and personal belongings.
I already have my residency if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer

My solution was to fly BA to Izmir, buying up to 10 extra bags of 23 kilos each at £28 a bag. Unfortunately BA only fly into Istanbul now, but you could then send the bags on by cargo which is not expensive. Worked for me!

Welcome to the Forum. Thomas Cook lets you buy up to 25kg on any trip now, but other carriers like Pegasus and Turkish Airlines let you book extra luggage in as cargo. Look on their website for details. Another thing I have done is use a golf club carrying bag. Most airlines allow you to bring these through as sports equipment and it costs a lot less per kilo.

Good luck

Val

I'm doing the same thing in October, and I'm flying with Jet2
They allow you to check in up to 3 hold bags, 22kgs each, for around £23 a bag
My daughter is coming for my first week to help me bring more bags, that's 6 x 22kg cases
I'm flying from Leeds Bradford, but they fly from other airports too
Good luck
