Really think the idea of performing a kindness or giving something to someone, unsolicited, with only thanks wanted being the hope that it will be passed on is wonderful. Although this is something that goes on throughout the year, holiday time ramps up people's awareness. Who has recently been a giver, or a receiver, of this anonymous generosity of spirit?

I prefer to give than receive..... but I can't claim to be overly generous.

Re: #payitforward

sometimes it's the little things that mean the most- a compliment to someone who looks sad, a heartfelt thank you for a job well done, dropping a meal off to a barely known neighbor who has had a hard time. you can make someone's life just a little better, happier, or easier, (even if it's just for just a short time).

Well, I think it's time of year to play devil's advocate here.

1. "a compliment to someone who looks sad" How do you know the person is sad? just because they LOOK sad, it doesn't mean they are.

2. "a heartfelt thank you for a job well done" If I had someone gushing to me about a job that I knew that I had done well already, I would most probably puke all over them!!

3."dropping a meal off to a barely known neighbor who has had a hard time" Well, just how do you know that this "barely known" person is in a bad way when you already admit that you don't really know them? I mean, because someone looks badly off, it does not signify that they really are. It could just be their lifestyle.

Humph and Humbug!!

Re: #payitforward

Well, there seems to be a lot more gullible do-gooders this year than last. As for Stellibellie's comment " I think I'd much rather prefer living in my head than yours " well I guess it takes all kinds.

That poster and the others who wrote here would seem, in my opinion, to be a fan of "Big Issue" sellers. Yet they still do not seem to realise that giving a pound to these unemployed folk at anytime, does not assuage ones conscience.Of course at this time of year they think it does, but of course it does not.

But I am sure they will be in their cosy homes celebrating their Christmas whilst those they feel "so sorry for" are outside starving and/or in debt to "payday" loaners- as usual.

As for the comment by dalyanfan: "That was lovely and made me cry - that man knows the true meaning of Christmas. "

That alone made me feel physically sick!! Such a bunch of Hypocrites.

HUMPH!!!!!!
