Re: getting dog home from dalyan

If you search - top right you will find loads of info, but have you considered homing a dog in your own country wherever that maybe, they face certain death in the UK for instance if they are not homed in a short period, whereas in Turkey they at least have a chance to survive.

good luck anyway

This may be useful for you as it has lots of information including how to transport dogs back to the UK plus costs involved.

Re: getting dog home from dalyan

Hi Wendy, First of all are you sure the dog isn't 'owned' as many Street dogs here (believe it or not) have owners.

If he isn't owned, then your first step would be to arrange for him to get his injections, Microchip and rabies certificate. If you're in UK, your best bet would be to arrange someone to foster him until he's ready to come to you (about 4 months from date of rabies vaccine if blood results come back at a suitable level).

Good luck x

Re: getting dog home from dalyan

We have 2 street dogs and my son has one - we used PAWS for my sons dog, he traveled overland and PAWS arranged all his injections and papers. Kara flew home 3 years ago and had to go into quarantine, they have changed the rules now and its much easier. Elif was also transported overland and was lovingly looked after by a foster family. There are many ways to do it but the best is to get someone to foster for you. good luck. All our rescues are wonderful, house trained and so loving. Elif is still bonkers but that's just Elif. Good luck.

Post Re: getting dog home from dalyan

All pets must have undergone the statutory requirements, in date order microchip, vaccination, blood test and have served a waiting period of three calendar months prior to issue of Turkish state Vet Export Certificate**. Pets who have been imported to Turkey from an EU member state possessing an EU Pet Passport that has been maintained are exempt from these conditions.

This is not a new requirment but is being inforced now in EU border countries.
**The 3rd country certificate AKA, Turkish State Vet export certificate must be set out in the language of the country of entry to the EU (not the destination) which in Paws case, is Bulgaria. The form can still be completed in English and Turkish but must be set out in BG format DO NOT let your vet or the ministry vet tell you this cannot be done it is on the TURK VET system in all languages of the EU.
We have now manged to have most regional Ministry vets complete the document as required by EU law only one area is not responding.

There are also many changes coming into force in December 2014, that will affect dogs coming into the EU from 3rd or unlisted countries. We will post as we gain more information throughout the year, as it is to unclear at present.
