Protests - beach

Has anyone any news about the protests in Dalyan about the council handing over the beach to a private company? I have been tying to get in contact with someone in Dalyan and was told they are involved in the protests.

That sounds worrying - thinking about the impact on beach development and planning.

Re: Protests - beach

If you read the " Touristic bars handed over to religious body " thread, you will see the AKP govt has taken the beaches of both Dalyan and Oludeniz , off the municipalities, and are selling them off to private enterprise.See what happens when the people have the audacity to vote the wrong way.

Re: Protests - beach

My understanding has always been that all beaches in Turkey are public and charges can only be made for sunbeds etc and access if over private land. Isn't the beach at Dalyan the subject of a protective conservation order and this in the past has stopped development encroaching.

Did the council hand over / sell off the beach or the government?

Environment and urban planning AKP minster Idris gullince has accepted the 8 year tender to Private construction an hospitality company Dalcev Inc of Ramazan Oruc and his 5 partners who include John Lent media company and Malcolm Grey rugby player over the local municipality who weren't told it included the beaches. There is a petition against this alleged illegal act

Sorry Chinook it is in Turkish newspapers this was the only small piece I could find in English which I have pasted below . But I translated a piece for Tosmur above it which may help.

Besides Alaçatı, MP Ağbaba said beaches in the southern resort towns of Ölüdeniz and Dalyan had been given to private companies instead of municipalities.
