Oruc do it again

Turned up in dalyan 2 hours ago after booking the villa last year in maras area. Bus driver took us to a villa in gulpinar area at which point we refused to get off bus until he took us to the original villa. The villa owner is in the original villa who had told oruc she was going to be there since last year. Ended up in the gulpinar one in the middle of nowhere with the promise that Cumali will be coming at 11 tomorrow. Basically Cumali has scammed us and wondering how we go about getting janjarma involved or even if we can?

Re: Oruc do it again

I am so sorry for your scuppered holiday plans. One day everyone will learn not to deal in any way with these people!

Having said that, this situation often occurs but it is important, not to say courteous, for the emlaks or agents to let you know in advance about the change of plans, especially with regard to venues. That way, you have the choice to cancel, but of course this is not what they want.

I think that because of the people you are dealing with the jandarma may not be of much help sadly, but airing your plight like this will at least warn others to stay clear! And do make one hell of a stink that they can't ignore!

I do hope it is sorted out and that you are put in a villa more convenient to town. Good luck.

Re: Oruc do it again

Don't the Zabita deal with commercial/business/ consumer problems?

I also seem to remember something about a national phone number for foreigners with problems in Turkey, possibly 175. Does anyone else know?

Re: Oruc do it again

Further to my last post; found the reference to 175. Go for it!

Laws & Legal Requirements
Do you have trading standards in Turkey?
Q. For example if you purchase something from a shop or store and are not happy with the item or they sold you the wrong item and they didn't do anything when you complained to them. Who would you then complain too?

A. If it is a small item (i.e:not like a car) we have Consumer Arbitrator Committee, which operates within the provincial directorates of commerce and district governors' offices.
When you apply to CAC, and they investigate and try to find a solution.

If it is a big thing like a quad bike, car, etc. you have to apply to the Consumer Court.

Dispute Cases:-

• defective goods or services
• unfair terms in a contract signed by a seller or supplier
• failure to make a necessary discount on early instalment payments, or miscalculated discount
• failure to deliver goods and/or services in package tours
• failure to properly deliver prepaid goods on time
• failure to deliver goods on time or failure to provide a refund if the consumer exercises the right of withdrawal
• costs not specified in a contract signed with a bank
• subscription agreements

Depending on the price of the goods or service, it is necessary to apply to either a consumer court or the Consumer Arbitrator Committee, in order to settle the dispute.

If you do not have a consumer court in your area, you need to apply to the local civil court. (which can function as a consumer court)

Consumer Courts
Consumer courts are located in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, Antalya, Bursa, Samsun, Konya, Mersin and Kayseri provinces.

- Applications to consumer courts are exempt from court fees.
- Appeals must be made to the consumer courts.

Consumer help line - 175

PS Why can't this be used in property disputes?????

Re: Oruc do it again

Hi all, we moved yesterday to a villa in front of the original booked one. We are here for a week and then moving to a one next door to the original. Not ideal but not as bad as where we were for the first night. The villa was lovely but surrounded by deep gravel roads and we've got my 94 year old wheelchair bound grandma with us so would have struggled to get out. Was also about a 15 minute walk to the centre and with 2 kids and in laws with mobility problems, would have been difficult.

Re: Oruc do it again

Hi Stuco,
Terrible story and you have my sympathy. Could you specify the name of the original villa you booked, I am worried that it might have been mine!
If you don't want to post it perhaps you could message me.
Regards

Re: Oruc do it again

I am sure a couple of bookings I had last year and this year were due to renters being let down in a similar fashion by the same company.

Trouble is it does give private villa renting a bad name .

Re: Oruc do it again

Hi bramidan, the villa seems to go by two names, villa taz and villekhulla. The owner is in there until the 11 th August. Hope it is not the one you have booked. Do you know the name of the one you are staying in? I can describe location if you want.
