Thinking of moving to Dalyan, advice please

Hi Everybody,

Hope this finds you all well, this is for some advice please on moving to the Dalyan area of Turkey.

We have found what we think is a well priced villa to rent for 12+ months to start, this will cost us 1300TL per month, so to us this is pretty cheap, not sure if it is or not compared to local prices if your living their.

We have visited Dalyan many times and have always wanted to move out of the UK, and Turkey looks like the choice we would like to take the plunge with. But we have only holidayed in teh summer in Dalyan sooooo my question is what is the area like during the winter months? do you still have markets on ? what local shops are still open? What would the cost of a residence permit cost?

really i just want to know everything, average cost of living etc.

i know so many question but any info on what the area is like during the winter would be very helpful to us both

thank you in advance

İ would suggest now is not the best time to re-locate to Turkey lots of places have civil unrest.

I think you are wise to rent in the short term. Things are becoming a bit unsettled at the moment so if I were you I wouldn't move any large amounts of money to a Turkish bank account. Have a nice extended holiday in your apartment and see how things are after the forthcoming elections. If you are not financially committed it will be no problem to up sticks and leave.

Re: Thinking of moving to Dalyan, advice please

MollyPolly, Dalyan has all its supermarkets open during the winter months, Migros, Bim, Carrefour, Sevi etc. plus all the little "corner" shops as well. But most if not all of the tourist type shops will be closed along with the majority of bars and restaurants, just a handful will be open.
Dalyan is nice and peaceful during the winter and usually good weather except Jan/Feb when it can rain, a lot.
Hope this helps.
