Revoking Powers of Attorney
Hi everybody,
Does anybody know how I go about revoking an existing Power of Attorney?
I granted one to a solicitor when I purchased my property but have just discovered that they don't expire and thus it would still grant that person the right to deal with my property affairs, not something I want to leave to run indefinitely.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Revoking Powers of Attorney
Yes go the the same district office as the original was issued by and give your details. Make sure you take your passport etc and if possible a copy of the POA usually takes a few mins and costs according to the original. When you get the cancellation is best to take a copy to your bank for information.

If your POA document was written correctly,it would only say TO PURCHASE THE PROPERTY.Once purchased thats his dealing finished,I would have thought.

Re: Revoking Powers of Attorney
I hold POA for a friend to purchase later this month. States I can only purchase the named property for that person. No other power.

Re: Revoking Powers of Attorney
Beware we had a friend who thought she had granted POA to sell a house only but the actual POA was enduring and universal. A very dangerous item indeed, Further more she didn't have a copy and was unaware just what powers she had given the named person.

Re: Revoking Powers of Attorney
When doing a POA it pays to have a first class Translator doing it for you,so it is worded exactly as you want it.

I would cancel it regardless just to be on the safe side.
