Dalyan Dentist - a warning

This is a cautionary tale. I was in Dalyan when my bridge snapped. It was a three tooth bridge. I had four days left of my holiday and my tongue was sore due to a sharp piece of metal from where it snapped. I went to a dentist in Dalyan on Ataturk Bvd. He said he would have time to fit a new bridge and I would also need two more crowns meaning five teeth in all. The price £1000 for five porcelain teeth, not zirconium, porcelain. In the UK a bridge is covered by the NHS and costs £244.

Obviously I said no and explained how much it would cost in England to which he intimated that I was a liar and he started to usher me out of the chair.

My tongue was still in pain so the next day I went to a denist in Ortaca. He said that he couldn't do the bridge in the three days I had left but he smoothed the sharp edge of the tooth and glued the remaining bridge back in place confident that it would last long enough for me to get home and see my own dentist. He charged me 50 lira. I asked him about the cost of a new bridge for future reference and he said £231 for the bridge, it worked out at approx £77 per tooth. I asked him if the teeth either side of the bridge needed crowning and he said, "No."

What is particuarly galling is that because I didn't want to pay £1000 for treatment that I didn't really need he wouldn't even smooth the tooth out for me. Keep away from this guy.

Opposite Migros, beside Kardeshler Pide. What's really annoying is that he was quite prepared to destroy two perfectly good teeth inorder to give two crowns that I didn't need. What a rogue. Stay well clear.

I went to the Dentist in Ortaca, almost next door to Coffeemania. He was superb, even went to the trouble of getting his wife to attend as she spoke English. His surgery is extremely hi-tec, in fact better than my dentist in the UK.

Yes I had the same experience in respect of a bridge. Eventually had it seen in U.K. and didn't need the treatment suggested.

Re: Dalyan Dentist - a warning

There's a male dentist in Akbuk that should be avoided. I was recommended to see him as a filling had fallen out & I wanted it replaced - what could possibly go wrong I thought! He talked me into a bridge, removed 2 good theeth. Lots of pain back home so had an emergency appointment with my dentist who said he should never have done it & she would charge me 6k to put it right!! Yesterday I went to the very good young lady dentist in Akbuk who took the bridge out and told me it was so badly done that the 2 teeth holding the bridge had gone bad. Anyway it's on going treatment for me BUT she was so gentle that all the treatment was painless. Would highly recommend her.

Re: Dalyan Dentist - a warning

Sorry, I don't know how to send pm, it is next to Coffeemania in Ortaca, coming from Dalyan at the main roundabout in town, take a left and then 50 metres on look right, I think his practice is called "Dis" meaning tooth in English, he is a good man, as well as treating me looked at my wife's teeth when she had problems and assured her nothing was wrong.
Took X Ray's etc for my wife and said no problem, suggested she flossed and used mouth wash, no attempt to charge for unnessecary treatment.
This is not an endorsement, I was happy ( ok not that happy going to a dentist) but he did the business for
