Bringing tv to Turkey

Getting conflicting answers about this so needing some advice. I bought myself a smart tv in November at a very good price and wanted to bring it with me when I move to Turkey. But I have been told I will have to pay import tax (although the shipper assures me I won't as it isn't brand new)
So my question is firstly is it worth the risk or can I pick up a smart TV at a reasonable price there? Would my UK tv be compatible with the ariel fitting and internet there? Thanks

you might be okay if the TV size is 21" or less according to this website
Passenger Transactions

For tv prices this site can give you an idea

https://www.teknosa.com/

if you take LG 55SJ800V as an example £800 in the UK you can find it in Turkey for 5200TL approx £1000 sometimes tv in Turkey can be cheaper in Turkey depends on time or year(Public holidays) and brand

I suspect your UK warranty would not be covered in Turkey but you would need to check with your service provider

Re: Bringing tv to Turkey

Be smart...........don't take it. The easier it is to get through Turkish customs the better, half the time they themselves don't know the rules.
I did bring one back with me in the car from Turkey, the only place I was challenged was in Switzerland............he asked if I had any electrical goods? I lied, he never checked & off I went.
There will be a duty to be paid I reckon.

Re: Bringing tv to Turkey

You need to do some maths. All the above advice is fine if you did not already own the TV; you have to decide what you will do with it if you do not bring it; the loss you make on sale may be greater than the import duty and tax.
If you give make and model you can get an idea of replacement cost in Turkey - most sets are universal,

Re: Bringing tv to Turkey

Tv's are quite reasonably priced in Turkey but you also need to take into account the convenience of having all your fav channels from home by bringing your original tv with you
