Re: Buying ebooks from Amazon

Thanks everyone - very helpful. I now have 40 books on my Kindle and I still have a long list!!! Burgomeister is brilliant - I'm like a child in a sweet shop, spoilt for choice and wanting everythiong!! - although I did have to set up a new email address as my yahoo address stopped accepting the files - don't really understand why. I emailed Bruce Tarrahill at Burgomeister who responded very quickly, and it's working fine now.

I usually read the newspapers on-line and will continue to do this rather than on the Kindle, but am considering a couple of magazine subscriptions.

The more I use the Kindle the more enthusiastic I am - my best buy for a long time!

-->: Buying ebooks from Amazon

My husbands and kids have bought me a kindle for my 40th and it is brilliant.

No more storing loads of paperbacks in my little Turkish house

He bought me the one with the free 3G wireless - absolutely amazing, was able to use the internet the other day while in Bursa with no internet access. A little more fussy to use than a laptop/notebook (obviously!!), but easy to check emails/facebook/favourite sports page (for hubby;-)

The music facility is also pretty good - although personally, I can not read and listen to music the same time, so I use it when washing up ;-) The screen is kind on the eyes and no more finger cramp trying to hold on to a big fat book

It definately is one of my best presents.

You might also find this site interesting which can save trawling through lots of sites. I have had a Sony for a couple of years and it is brilliant for taking abroad on holiday - certainly saves the weight of the 8-10 books I used to carry. Just Free Books - A search engine to find only free ebooks.

Re: Buying ebooks from Amazon

I use an online book/dvd shop to buy books and collections from for my e-reader, some are downloadable and some are posted to you on disc, they're very reasonable and have new release books at a fraction of the price of Waterstones etc and they also post to Turkey as i've received discs here too.

PM ne if you want their details as I don't think I can post them on here

Hi May

Press 'home' first
Press your 'menu' button
Scroll down to the 'experimental' button
On the Web browser part - click on launch browser - it will already be highlighted for you (if you want it, this is where the music part is - play MP3)
You will then get your free wireless 3G
On the top where www is, there is a little box that you can change to google, wikipedia or go to
You can save favourites, such as email, facebook, or Swansea football if you are my husband
If the screen is too small, press the 'Aa' button (next to the home button)
I find 200% good - but it depends on your eyes!!!
The screen rotation is good on landscape too for web browsing (the directional cursers will change automatically for you.)

I am no techy, so it is simple to use

Hope this helps a little

Lynda
