Sound business advice!
Our Muhasebe, has told us that along with a retired local official in the Town of Kusadasi, they are going to set up a business counselling office. The official speaks perfect English. We have nothing but praise for these people, and I said that I would make it known to other Foreigners who wish to start up in Business here. So many people get the wrong advice, and end up in s**t street however these people have kept us on the straight and narrow for a year now, and We look forward to a long and fruitful working relationship. Turkish business beaurocracy can be exhausting if you do not know what you are doing. The advice will be for people who wish to start companies, who already have one who would like to keep on the straight and narrow, and for those who got it wrong and need help to get it right. The advice will have nothing to do with advice on house buying, Emlaks, Lawyers etc. etc. Purely for business minded people who need the right advice. I will inform you all when they are operating, however if you want to know more prior, PM me or send us an email via our web mail.

Re: Sound business advice!
You don't have to have a Turkish Partner, 2 brits can partner up but you will need a Turkish Manager and if you want to work yourself then you'll have to have a work permit - you cannot work in your own company without one.
There is also a lot more to businesses than this. Taxes for one can be confusing and although your accountant will sort this all out for you you will want to understand them. Then there are ruhsats and other certificates to get hold of, national insurance (SSK and Bag-kur). You need a special ruhsat if you open on weekends, etc.
Your accountant may also assume that you know what you're doing and fail to mention certain things that they would expect Turks to know. Our first accountant did just this which is why we now have a second accountant....
Also our first accountant seemed to be on the fiddle with us, luckily one of my wifes friends from Uni is also an accountant and she put us right and made sure we swapped acccountant.

Re: Sound business advice!
They can be related. Basically for a foreigner to own a business the business must at least be a limited company and at least 2 people are required for setting up a limited company.
But please remember this is to OWN the business not work in it. Don't think you can just sit there are say you are just managing because you are not allowed to do even that without a work permit.

Re: Sound business advice!
İnbox now lighter! I bought my Turkish partner out, My company is a Ltd. Co.(You no longer need a Turkish partner) and My wife is a Director along with another British person Currently. We also employ Turks whom as Turtle webs says, all the tax crap etc. can be a pain in the butt. However providing you stick to the rules, your ok.

Re: Sound business advice!
Thats good news,
I wont add to your inbox as you've pretty much answered my questions.
I was looking for a commercial plot of land in Akbuk but my wife was really put off by the horror stories of people going into business with thier Turkish "friend" only to be stung further down the line. So the whole idea was kicked to the kurb.
I suppose this means the hunt is back on.

Re: Sound business advice!
At the time he wrote that c**p he hadn't bought his Turkish partner out. The Turkish partner sold him his shares in the company, but PR didn't actually pay for them!!!!
Also, it looks as though the partnership with his muhasebe didn't get off the ground - yet another of his lies or another (hopeful) money making scam?
